A high surf advisory was released by the National Weather Service on Wednesday at 1:54 a.m. valid between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. for Essex, Suffolk, Norfolk, Plymouth, Bristol, Barnstable, Dukes and Nantucket counties.
The weather service describes, "Large breaking waves of 9 to 12 feet expected in the surf zone."
"Dangerous swimming and surfing conditions and localized beach erosion, especially those with east-facing exposures," describes the weather service. "Inexperienced swimmers should remain out of the water due to dangerous surf conditions."
