CHAMARAJANAGAR: Despite opposition from locals and family members, Forest Department officials tore down a house being constructed illegally on forest land at Tengaiahkombu village in Hanur taluk near the Gopinatham border.
The woman, identified as Chinnapille, had been cultivating forest land for several years and took up construction of a house a few days ago. However, the Forest Department officials arrived on the scene and demolished the structure.
Family members and other villagers opposed the action, but were told that the house was being built illegally on forest land. The Forest Department officials tried to explain to them that no new construction can be taken up on forest land.
