Qantas Frequent Flyer customers can now earn status points without stepping into a plane, in a first of its kind change to the popular loyalty program.

Status credits are essential for members to retain or upgrade their tier program.

Registered members can earn up to 110 Status Credits, directly linked to the Qantas Points earned across eight categories, from banking and insurance to retail and entertainment.

Qantas launched the initiative to help members fast-track their annual status and boost their Lifetime balances before the end of the year.

Customers will need to activate the offer under the ‘My offers’ tab by October 31.

Qantas Loyalty CEO Andrew Glance said it’s the first time members have been able to earn Status Credits on the ground at this scale.
