Following an investigation into a deadly crash he was involved in last year, a Franklin Borough Police sergeant will not be criminally charged, the New Jersey Attorney General’s Office announced Monday.
Sgt. William Grissom was on duty traveling south on Route 23 in the borough at 10:39 a.m. on May 27, 2024 in a marked police vehicle when he collided with a car , according to a statement from the attorney general’s office, which investigated the incident.
The car was exiting the ShopRite parking lot near the intersection of Route 23 and Walsh Street and emerged from behind other vehicles that were in traffic on the northbound side of the road, the office said. The car then crossed the double yellow line on Route 23, and attempted to head north in the southbound lane.
