New Delhi: In a remarkable engineering feat, the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) has completed a road to Mig La Pass, now the highest motorable pass in the world at an altitude of 19,400 feet. Built by Project Himank in the Eastern Ladakh sector, Mig La has surpassed the previous record held by Umling La (19,024 ft), also constructed by BRO.
“Its a great feeling to stand at the pass and I am extremely proud of my team that has navigated through these treacherous heights to break our own record of Umling La. The aim is not to break records but to provide quality infrastructure to our armed forces and civilians and in that process if some record is broken, that is a bonus,” says Brig Vishal Srivastava, Chief Engineer, Project Himank from on top of the pass.
