WASHINGTON —
Amid a government shutdown , Iowa's representatives in the U.S. House will go without pay.
All four of Iowa's U.S. representatives have asked to have their pay withheld for the duration of the shutdown. The Constitution allows for members of Congress to continue receiving pay during shutdowns.
The government entered a shutdown overnight after President Donald Trump and Congress failed to agree on terms to keep government programs and services in operation by Wednesday's deadline.
