Netflix’s upcoming western drama The Abandons has a start date.

The sprawling series that stars Lena Headey and Gillian Anderson as matriarchs of two very different families is set to drop Dec. 4. Shot in Calgary, the show is from Kurt Sutter but the irascible writer-producer stepped away from the drama in October of 2024.

This is what Executive Producer Chris Keyser has to say the first chapter of Sutter’s saga that takes palce in Washington Territory, circa 1854: “The Abandons is a classic American story – the frontier, two families – both at war and in love with each other, a battle over who owns the land and who makes the rules.
