BROOKFIELD TOWNSHIP, Ohio - The small plane that made an emergency landing in a Trumbull County farm field on Tuesday around noon, after running out of fuel, successfully took off later that same day.

The single-engine Piper Cherokee, en route from New York to Chicago, had landed safely at a farm on Merwin Chase Road in Brookfield.

Farmer Frank Murcko, who was harvesting soybeans, discovered the three men aboard were all okay after hearing a whizzing noise and rushing out.

After examination, the FAA granted clearance for the plane to be refueled. The Piper Cherokee was subsequently filled up and successfully departed from the farm field on Tuesday afternoon.
