Maryland Democratic Sen. Chris Van Hollen and Republican Rep. Andy Harris are pointing fingers at each other’s party regarding the government shutdown.
Democrats are blaming Republicans for the shutdown for failing to agree to extend Obamacare credits for health care which expire at the end of the year.
“Well, we don’t control the Senate. If you don’t have 60 votes in the Senate, you don’t control it,” Harris said. “Chuck Schumer still controls whether they can filibuster anything.”
Van Hollen said Senate Republicans voted to shut down the government – blocking a bill to fund it responsibly, protect health care and “stop Trump from getting a blank check for his lawlessness.” He added that they would rather please their “dear leader” than deliver for the American people.
