BISMARCK, ND (KXNET) - Senator John Hoeven criticized Senate Democrats on Tuesday for rejecting a short-term funding measure that would have kept the federal government open through November 21, accusing them of stalling bipartisan progress and triggering a shutdown over what he described as “partisan demands.”

The North Dakota Republican pointed to the House’s approval of a continuing resolution (CR) last week, which passed largely along party lines. Sen. Hoeven said the Senate had made strides in advancing appropriations bills with support from both parties, but claimed Democrats halted that process to push for additional spending measures totaling more than $1 trillion.
