BISMARCK, ND (KXNET) — On Tuesday, an artist finished adding some new color to a building in downtown Bismarck.

Artist Melissa Gordon was putting the finishing touches on a new mural along Main Avenue. Gordon was hired by the marketing firm Odney to paint the artwork on the wall of the Zimmerman's Furniture clearance center building.

Odney spokespeople wanted the mural to celebrate the company's 40th anniversary. It includes the number 1872, along with wildlife, like a white-tailed deer, a flickertail and a meadowlark.

Gordon says the building is over 100 years old, and she needed help from a mason to fill in the cracks and holes in the brick wall before it could be painted on.
