TORONTO – Canada’s main stock index was in record territory as it rose more than 100 points in late-morning trading, helped by strength in the technology sector, while U.S. stocks were mixed.
The S&P/TSX composite index was up 129.36 points at 30,152.17.
In New York, the Dow Jones industrial average was up 65.59 points at 46,463.48. The S&P 500 index was down 1.78 points at 6,686.68, while the Nasdaq composite was down 23.06 points at 22,636.95.
The Canadian dollar traded for 71.71 cents US compared with 71.83 cents US on Monday.
The November crude oil contract was down 79 cents US at US$61.58 per barrel.
The December gold contract was up US$28.00 at US$3,901.20 an ounce.
