The Trump administration alleges the Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) and the Minnesota State High School League violated Title IX by allowing transgender athletes to compete in girl’s sports.

The U.S. Department of Education and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services on Tuesday released the results of its months-long investigation, which say MDE and MSHSL allowed transgender athletes to compete in girls' sports over the course of several years, including Alpine skiing, Nordic skiing, lacrosse, track and field, volleyball, and fastpitch softball, which it alleges is in violation of federal rules.

In the first months of his second term, President Donald Trump issued an executive order banning transgender athletes from competing in women’s sports.
