Two Vancouver Island photographers claimed podium spots in this year’s BC SPCA Wildlife-in-Focus Photography Contest.
Victoria’s James Ferguson took home the gold medal in the “Wild Settings” category with his action shot of a grizzly bear fishing in Campbell River.
Meanwhile Sooke’s Alec Head took home the silver medal in the “Backyard Habitats” category for his delicate shot of an Oak jumping spider.
The photo contest doubled as a fundraiser for the BC SPCA’s Wild Animal Rehabilitation Centre (Wild ARC) in Metchosin, and this year it raised more than $4,000 for the facility.
Ferguson says he took his winning photo while on a nature tour with Eagle Eye Adventures in Campbell River
“We were very fortunate to see a young mother grizzly teaching her cub how to fish,” he told CHEK News.
