LSU coach Brian Kelly described rumors claiming that injured fifth-year quarterback Garrett Nussmeier needed surgery as "misinformation" before also saying that his abdominal strain has been a "slow heal."

"Those (rumors) are not based on any facts," Kelly said. "They're quite silly, actually, and I know you have to ask the question, so I'm certainly not throwing you under the bus for asking it, because people want to know, but this is misinformation."

Kelly said Nussmeier had suffered a torso injury during preseason camp, an issue that has lingered into the regular season, and Kelly said after the Tigers' win over Florida that it was a problem that wouldn't resolve itself until LSU's off week this week.
