Acting upon a tip, authorities arrested a Glen Oaks High student who brought a weapon to school Wednesday morning.

“At no point were students or staff in danger,” according to an official message sent later in the morning to parents at the Baton Rouge high school. “The situation was handled swiftly, and the school remained secure throughout the incident.”

East Baton Rouge Parish school officials thanked the tipster and local law enforcement for a quick response.

“This event is a clear example of our safety protocols working as intended and our community playing an active role in maintaining a safe school environment,” according to the message.

School officials did not identify the student or the weapon that student brought to school.

This is a developing story.
