Vermont Fish and Wildlife says the closure is to protect landlocked Atlantic salmon that gather each fall in the cove before migrating up to Hatchery Brook to spawn.
Adult salmon can live for many years in the wild and return to Hatchery Brook every year.
Officials say there are signs out marking the area that is closed.
