MIDWOOD — Brooklyn’s music scene in the 1980s and 90s was a magical time. Up-and-coming musicians collided with established artists to perform at venues like L’Amour, the “rock capital of Brooklyn,” which served as a launchpad for many major bands.

If locals needed a place to let off some steam, there were a number of rehearsal and recording studios throughout Kings County that would gladly accommodate them. One of the more established and well known in the area was Fast Lane Studios, owned and operated by the late Mike Ferrara for nearly 30 years.
