A North Alabama inmate escaped from his assigned job site in Huntsville, according to the Alabama Department of Corrections.

ADOC says 66-year-old Phillip Russell Deason left from his assigned job location at approximately 6 p.m. on Tuesday. He was wearing blue jeans, a blue and white shirt, and a ball cap at the time of his escape.

Deason is 5 feet and 6 inches tall, and he weighs about 180 pounds.

He is serving time for a theft of property charge. ADOC says he was sentenced back in 1999.
