The state attorney general’s office is slated to fight the Trump administration’s decision to slash tens of millions of dollars in funding meant to protect New York’s subway riders against potential terror attacks in arguments before a federal judge in Manhattan on Wednesday.

In an eleventh-hour filing Tuesday, AG Tish James’ office sued the Department of Homeland Security and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) over the decision to withhold more than $33.8 million from the MTA because of New York’s laws protecting undocumented immigrants. James’ office asked the court to issue a temporary restraining order to stop the decision from going into effect.
