ATLANTIC CITY — Police arrested a city man Wednesday after he allegedly sexually assaulted a 13-year-old girl.

David Roary, 41, was charged with aggravated sexual assault, two counts of sexual assault, criminal sexual contact, endangering the welfare of a child and possession of a controlled dangerous substance. He was sent to the Atlantic County jail pending court.

The girl's mother notified police Monday that Roary was engaging in sexual acts with her daughter, police said in a news release. Text messages between Roary and the girl showed that a sexual relationship began when she was 12 years old. Roary allegedly would give her a THC vape pen or marijuana in exchange for sex.

Authorities searched the 1100 block of Baltic Avenue and took Roary into custody.
