Tensions escalated at the historic Neermahal after members of Tipra Motha locked the palace gates and submitted a deputation at Melaghar police station, demanding the arrest of those involved in setting fire to the main entrance of the water palace. In the wake of the unrest, tourists have been barred from entering the site, one of Tripura’s most iconic landmarks.

Reportedly, there was a fire incident through electricity short circuit to the main gate of Neermahal, sparking outrage among local residents and political activists. Tipra Motha leaders alleged there is a conspiracy and responded swiftly, demanding police action and temporarily locking the gates of the heritage site. Officials confirmed that tourist entry has been suspended until further notice for security and safety reasons.
