HENRICO, Va. (WWBT) - A Henrico student was arrested Wednesday after attempting to bring a loaded gun into middle school.

Police say the weapons scanner at Fairfield Middle School detected a gun in a 12-year-old student’s backpack around 8:15 a.m. on Oct. 1.

Henrico Police Chief Eric English confirmed with 12 On Your Side that the gun was loaded.

That student was then taken into custody.

He is charged with possession of a firearm on school grounds and possession of a firearm by a juvenile.

The investigation is ongoin,g and more charges may be coming.
