SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) -- The Rosebud Sioux Tribe's President released a statement responding to the recent decision made by Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth.
Days ago, Hegseth announced that the 20 soldiers who received the Medal of Honor for their action in 1890 at Wounded Knee will keep their awards.
President Kathleen Woodknife responded, "To this day, our families carry that pain. To continue to decorate those responsible with our nation's highest military honor is not only historically inaccurate, but it also dishonors every Veteran who has truly earned the Medal through valor and sacrifice."
