BANGOR, Maine (WABI) - Northern Light Health and Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield of Maine failed to reach a new deal by the end of Tuesday’s deadline for contract mediation.

This means, starting October 1, more than 30,000 patients are now out-of-network for services, doctors, and specialists at Northern Light Health’s non-hospital facilities.

It will also lead to Northern Light’s providers exiting Anthem’s Medicare Network and all patients being taken out-of-network for hospital services at the end of 2025.

Anthem had asked Tuesday to extend their contract beyond Sept. 30 to avoid disruptions for members.
