Good news, Washington Commanders fans.
Franchise quarterback Jayden Daniels practiced fully today for the first time since suffering a knee injury in Week 2, per multiple reports. Daniels' injury came in the Commanders' loss to the Green Bay Packers on "Thursday Night Football" that week.
The reigning Offensive Rookie of the Year missed the Commanders' last two games, a 41-24 win over the Las Vegas Raiders and a 34-27 loss to the Atlanta Falcons.
Veteran backup Marcus Mariota started both games in his stead. Mariota completed 31 of 48 passes (64.6%) for 363 yards, three touchdowns and one interception. He also had eight carries for 60 yards and a touchdown on the ground as well.
Washington will be on the road in Week 5 Sunday against the Los Angeles Chargers. Los Angeles just suffered its first lost of the season on the road to the New York Giants.
When is Jayden Daniels returning?
Commanders coach Dan Quinn has not confirmed whether or not Daniels is starting Week 5 against the Chargers. Daniels' return to practice is a good sign he could play but not a definitive answer.
If the team opts to keep him on the bench, Mariota would make his third start of the season.
Washington is back in primetime in Week 6 on "Monday Night Football" against the Chicago Bears and the quarterback taken one pick ahead of Daniels in the 2024 NFL Draft, Caleb Williams.
Commanders QB depth chart
