Snowmobilers beware.
There will be a number of trails north and east of Sault Ste. Marie that will remain closed this winter as a result of a move by the Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs (OFSC) to cut costs and ask area clubs to cut trails.

That’s not great news for Sault Ste. Marie winter tourism, said Travis Anderson, the city’s director of tourism and community development.
“Winter is an important tourism season for us and snowmobiling is a good part of that winter mix,” he said.
The city’s Northern climate usually produces decent snow amounts to create good snowmobile winter conditions, giving the city a competitive advantage over other parts of the province, Anderson said.
