DULUTH — The assistant superintendent of schools has pleaded guilty to a charge of impaired driving following his arrest this summer.

Anthony Bonds, 54, entered the plea to a misdemeanor count of driving with a blood-alcohol concentration above 0.08.

He did so by submitting a plea petition in writing to the court in mid-September, ahead of an arraignment that had been scheduled for Oct. 21, waiving his right to personally appear in court for purposes of entering the plea and sentencing.

A court filing indicated Bonds was driving a 2024 Honda Passport when he was stopped just before 11 p.m. July 21 at 119 W. First St. Trooper Sean Hollencamp of the Minnesota State Patrol issued the citation.
