US President Donald Trump said on Wednesday he will meet Chinese President Xi Jinping in four weeks, adding that soybeans will be a major topic amid ongoing trade tensions.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump said American soybean farmers are being hurt because China has stopped buying their crops "for negotiating reasons only." He added that his administration has collected significant revenue from tariffs and would use some of it to support farmers.
Trump also criticised his predecessor, Joe Biden, for failing to enforce a trade agreement that required China to purchase billions of dollars’ worth of US farm products, including soybeans. "Sleepy Joe Biden didn’t enforce our Agreement with China," Trump wrote.
