PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – Washington is joining a lawsuit against Zillow and Redfin, alleging the Seattle-based companies violated antitrust laws after striking a $100 million deal in February.
The complaint was filed in Virginia on Wednesday by a group of five state attorneys general -- including Arizona, Virginia, New York and Connecticut. In their lawsuit, the attorneys general argue that Zillow and Redfin violated the federal Sherman Act by unlawfully agreeing to eliminate competition and undergoing an unlawful acquisition under the Clayton Act.
Now, the attorneys general say the deal "cements Zillow’s dominance in the market for online rental ads."
