People in parts of Scotland could be hit with winds of up to 89mph this weekend as Storm Amy looks set to batter coasts up and down the UK.
On Wednesday morning, the Met Office confirmed the imminent arrival of the first named storm of the season.
A 30-hour wind warning was issued for several regions , with gusts of 80mph expected at the storm's peak.
The alert will remain in place from 6pm on Friday, 3 October, until 11:59pm on Saturday, October 4, affecting parts of north west England, north east England, Scotland and Wales among other areas.
