A man from Warwickshire has been charged with three theft offences following a car theft and burglary attempts in Tamworth .

Ashley West, 31, of Grendon, in North Warwickshire , has appeared at a magistrates’ court charged with stealing a luxury BMW i4 electric car in Tamworth in August.

He has also been charged with trying to break into homes in Tamworth and Whittington, a village between Lichfield and Tamworth both a little over a week later on the Bank Holiday.

West was charged with theft of motor vehicle and two counts of attempted burglary with intent to steal.

He appeared at the North Staffordshire Justice Centre in Newcastle-under-Lyme on Tuesday (September 30).
