YOUNGSTOWN - A vision for more housing for the homeless is coming together at the Rescue Mission of the Mahoning Valley. On the empty land next to the main building on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard in Youngstown and lots from two donated homes that will soon be leveled, the mission will build transitional homes.
Built for singles or families the occupants would be required to have a full-time job and meet with administrators weekly to reduce their debt that's sinking them into homelessness.
“These are folks who one day the goal is that they'll move out of the transitional homes into a house that they will buy themselves somewhere else,” John Muckridge, the CEO of Rescue Mission of the Mahoning Valley said.
