A former student in a Penn State butcher apprenticeship program has filed a lawsuit alleging the university did not take her complaint of sexual harassment seriously.

The woman, whose name PennLive is withholding because she says she is the victim of sexual harassment, is bringing a Title IX claim against the university and asking for damages and fees.

Included with the suit is a letter from the state Department of Labor & Industry admonishing Penn State for failing to appropriately train and oversee its apprenticeship job placements, as well as investigate the woman’s sexual harassment allegations in a timely manner.

Students in that program complete five weeks of study before taking a full-time paid apprenticeship program at a meat-processing facility in Pennsylvania.
