SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) - A suspect has been identified in connection to the deadly stabbing in Springfield Monday night, police report.

36-year-old, Hector Lopez, from Springfield has been charged with Murder.

Lopez was taken into custody the same night of the stabbing while officers were still investigating the violent incident.

According to the Springfield Police Department officers received information about Lopez and found him on the 2600 block of Main Street.

The victim, a man, whose identity has not been released yet, was found stabbed in the 2800 block of Main St.

Springfield police representative, Ryan Walsh explaining how officers were able to take Lopez into custody at that time.

“Lopez had an outstanding warrant and was placed under arrest for those charges,” Walsh
