(Gray News) – Jane Goodall, best known for her work studying chimpanzees for over 60 years, has died at age 91.

The Jane Goodall Institute confirmed in a statement on Instagram that Goodall died of natural causes Wednesday morning.

She was in California as part of her speaking tour.

“Dr. Goodall’s discoveries as an ethologist revolutionized science, and she was a tireless advocate for the protection and restoration of our natural world,” the statement read.
