RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- 8News got a visit from two special guests on Wednesday to talk about the upcoming RVA Music Fest that will return to Dogwood Dell next weekend.
8News anchors Autumn Childress and Delaney Hall were joined by Jasmyn Buckingham, founder of the festival, and Latasha Dodson, the mother of Xavier Brown -- whom the festival was made in honor of.
"The reason we created RVA Music Fest was to honor Xavier Brown," Buckingham said. "He was shot and killed in Shockoe Bottom in May of 2022, and the reason [for] this festival is to be able to reach youth and be able to help stop gun violence in the community by offering them mentors in the community -- showing that they have different options that they can pursue, in music, in entrepreneurship..."
The event will feature a small
