Less than three months after a Hanmer teen was convicted of careless driving causing bodily harm, he drove at a high rate of speed in Val Caron, refused to stop for police and crashed into a bus shelter while making an abrupt, sharp turn.

When Mathieu Labre was caught after a foot chase, police found he was impaired.

In the Ontario Court of Justice on Wednesday, Labre, now 19, pleaded guilty to Criminal Code charges of dangerous driving and impaired driving, and breaching his Provincial Offences Act probation order.

“I regret my actions and I apologize,” Labre told Justice Pierre Bradley. “I want to focus on work and doing better.”
