Mason City will hold a groundbreaking ceremony at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, Oct.16, just south of Southbridge Mall at 214 S. Delaware Avenue in the Riverwalk District, to mark the start of construction on the first new downtown hotel built in more than a century, according to a press release.

The 88-room Home2 Suites by Hilton extended stay hotel, managed by Kinseth Hospitality Companies, will be part of the new Riverwalk District and will connect to Music Man Square via Mason City’s first skywalk. The hotel will feature many modern amenities designed with guests in mind, including an indoor pool.
