The head of Britain’s biggest police force has apologised after 11 serving and former staff at London’s Charing Cross police station were placed under investigation for gross misconduct.
It follows allegations uncovered by the BBC, including using excessive force as well as sharing anti-Muslim and misogynist comments.
The Met Police Chief Sir Mark Rowley said more than 1,400 people had been removed from the force since he took charge, calling it the biggest corruption clearout in UK history.
