SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) -- For Eric Reeves, Lawrence Moten made graduation day even more special.

"He was actually walking by, and I got to take a picture with my father, myself, and he. I just recognized him. He's a tall guy, very distinctive," Reeves said. "Got talking to him for a few minutes. That was nice."

Reeves says he admires the work Moten put into the Syracuse community, like serving in a youth mentorship role with the Syracuse City School District and the Boys and Girls Club.

"There are a lot of times where athletes parachute in and parachute out of a program. They get there, spend time in the program, and then go off to bigger and better things and don't look back. That wasn't the case with Lawrence Moten," Reeves said.
