LAWRENCE COUNTY, Mo. — A Greene County man was arrested on Tuesday, September 30, following reports of sexual misconduct with a minor.

According to online court dockets, William Benton, born 1962, of Ash Grove, has been charged with second-degree statutory rape, incest and first-degree endangering the welfare of a child creating substantial risk with no sexual conduct in Lawrence County Circuit Court.

The probable cause statement says the Lawrence County Sheriff's Office responded to a location following allegations of sexual abuse.

A 17-year-old victim told officials during an interview that Benton had been engaging in sexual misconduct since she was 15 years old, the statement says.

Benton is in the Lawrence County Jail with no bond.
