WATERTOWN, N.Y. (WWTI) - A member of the Watertown Police Department is on administrative leave after an alleged "use of force" incident.

In a press release from the department, they state that the alleged incident occurred around 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 24 at the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building.

The release said it involved a member of the city police department. The employee was placed on administrative leave after an internal investigation.

New York State Police have been asked to conduct an independent criminal investigation.

The New York State Attorney General's Office was also notified as required by law.

No other details were released by police.
