State and NJ Transit officials are seeking to have a judge dismiss a lawsuit filed by the family of a Hamilton Township woman who died when she was hit by a train a decade ago.
Tiffany Valiante, 18, was preparing for her first semester at Mercy College in New York when she was struck by a train on the Atlantic City Rail Line on July 12, 2015. The train was bound for the Absecon station when it hit the teen on a secluded stretch of tracks at mile marker 45.
Since her death, Valiante’s parents have been critical of NJ Transit police’s investigation, stressing their daughter was the victim of foul play.
