COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - A judge ruled Wednesday that the South Carolina Election Commission can continue handing over voter data to the federal government.
A judge decided against granting a temporary injunction for Calhoun County voter Anne Crooks, who attempted to halt the process by filing a lawsuit against the South Carolina Elections Commission. Crooks argued the disclosure of her data would violate her right to privacy.
The U.S. Department of Justice had been pushing for South Carolina’s voter registration list, which includes personal data, including the last four digits of Social Security and driver’s license numbers, according to a letter from the DOJ.
