SAN ANTONIO — A fox, exhibiting abnormal behavior, tested positive for rabies in north Bexar County Tuesday, according to a press release from the county health department.

Officials said a homeowner reported a fox acting strange on his property, located on the 27000 block of Mark Wayne Drive. The homeowner reportedly killed the fox and reported it to Bexar County Animal Control.

According to the release, the fox was tested by the regional veterinary office and the results came back positive. There were no reports of human or pet exposure.

“Thankfully no human contact was involved in this positive rabies incident. However, wild animals such as foxes and raccoons can infect pets. It underscores the importance of ensuring that all dogs and cats are vaccinated against the rabies virus. I e
