MADISON, Wis — The Dane County Sheriff's Office announced on Wednesday that criminal charges have been referred to the Dane County District Attorney's Office regarding the man accused of hitting a Madison police officer Saturday afternoon.
According to law officials, the 36-year-old was driving a flatbed tow truck when he allegedly led multiple police agencies on a pursuit that ended in McFarland. The suspect hit officer Ryan Kimberely, seriously injuring him. Kimberely's partner, K9 Freddie, sustained minor injuries.
Citizens reported seeing the tow truck driving erratically, prompting Monona police to contact the man at a gas station on Broadway Street.
