SAN FRANCISCO — Microsoft announced price increases for the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate edition Wednesday, resulting in the price bumping up to $29.99 a month.

The price hike, effective immediately, comes as the Ultimate tier gets its "most expansive upgrade yet," according to the press release.

In addition to more than 75 day one releases a year, Ultimate members will have access to Fortnite Crew and Ubisoft+ Classics subscriptions included in their membership.

While the Essential, formerly known as Xbox Game Pass Core, and Premium, formerly known as Standard, tiers haven't increased in price, they did see some changes.

The hike comes after the The Xbox Series S now starts at $379.99 in the U.S. — up $80 from when it debuted in 2020 . The more powerful Xbox Series X will be $599.99
