MCALLEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — McAllen Public Library is partnering with South Texas College to offer free GED and English as a Second Language (ESL) classes starting Oct. 13 at various library locations in McAllen.
The classes aim to help qualifying students improve their English skills or earn a high school equivalency diploma. ESL classes will be held on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Main Library and the Palm View Branch Library, while GED classes will take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Lark Branch Library.
"Hosting these classes is one more way we can connect our community to free educational opportunities," said Kate Horan, Library Director.
Mayor Javier Villalobos noted, "Education opens doors for our residents, and programs like these help families gro
