CHESTERFIELD , Va. (WWBT) - LEGO is adding a new piece to its factory at Meadowville Technology Park during Wednesday’s Topping Out ceremony.

Lawmakers, construction workers and LEGO leaders all added their names and messages to the Chesterfield factory’s final steel beam and then watched it rise and land at the very top.

“The construction project has reached a point where we now know it’s finishing. It’s the most important beam in the tallest point of the building,” Governor Glenn Youngkin said.

They even added something a little special, a tree, and not a regular tree, but one made entirely with LEGOs.

The $1.7 million square foot factory will have 13 buildings with packaging and processing facilities, office spaces, and more.
